Back in May 2014, Narendra Modi was appointed Prime Minister of India, making many citizens of India believe that he could replicate the economic wonders he did for the state of Gujarat for the entire nation. His promise to increase employment for the nation’s burgeoning youth was viewed as a viable prospect rather than a distant dream.
Earlier in October, the United Nations released a dire climate change report, urging the international community to act before our planet is faced with even more irreversible consequences. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) also warned that these effects are predicted to be felt sooner than originally anticipated–as soon as 2040.
As members of the LGBTQ+ community and as Americans, we have an obligation to inform ourselves and take a stand against such levels of queer erasure. Next, we need to use our voices in the upcoming midterm and presidential elections in the only way that ensures they’ll be heard: by heading to the polls and casting our votes.
In my opinion, the foreign policy establishment’s critiques of Mr. Trump reflect on an inability to produce more daring policies to counter China’s supposedly “peaceful rise”. It is precisely this mentality which allowed China to expand in economic and military power without any significant resistance from Washington.
