the executive board
The IR INSIDER/IR SOCIETY Executive Board is composed of NYU students in the fields of International Relations, Journalism, Economics, and other concentrations relevant to the coverage of international news. In addition to organizing many medium to large-scale events for the NYU community of interest, board members coordinate and edit for IR INSIDER on a daily basis. Apart from ensuring the overall quality of the publication, each member writes regularly across many categories on IR INSIDER.
Sonia is the President of the IR Society and EIC of IR Insider. She is a senior at New York University and is pursuing a major in psychology and an accelerated master’s in international relations. She hopes to continue on to law school and practice international criminal law. Sonia is also a co-president of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu club and she previously led an AB human rights trip to Morocco. She loves to read, listen to music, travel, and play with cute dogs she meets in the middle of New York City streets.
David Tianmu Yang
David is the Vice President of the IR Society. He comes from Qingdao, China and is currently a Senior at NYU College of Arts and Science. David is currently majoring in International Relations and Economics while pursuing a minor in Business. As an international student, David is interested in making friends from all around the world and sharing unique cultural experiences with others. During his spare time, David loves traveling, photography, and reading.
Srey is currently a senior at NYU majoring in International Relations and Journalism and minoring in Psychology. She is the Vice President of IR INSIDER. Born in Mumbai, India, Srey has lived in London, Boston, Chicago, Singapore, and Melbourne. She is passionate about women’s empowerment and is interested in South Asian politics. During her free time, Srey enjoys watching true crime shows and finding new places to eat in the Lower East Side.
Jamin is an Executive Editor of IR INSIDER. An IR major and political junkie-in-training, Jamin wrote monthly briefs on political and IR-related events around New York City before entering the IR Society E-Board, where he has taken on a multitude of tasks that include managing the IR Society’s Facebook page, collaborating with other clubs, and booking rooms. Jamin’s hobbies include sketching, exploring the peripheries of NYC, and surfing the interweb.
Julia Guo is the Social Media and Audience Development Chair at the International Relations Society at NYU. Also working as the EIC of Saturday and an event reporter for IR Insider, Julia majors in Politics and Journalism with a minor in French. She values her Chartreux cat in Beijing the most. Julia is also extremely lazy so this will be the end of her bio.
Grace Kim is a publisher for the IR Insider. She comes from Moorestown, New Jersey and is a second-year student in Liberal Studies, planning to major in politics. As a passionate traveler, Grace enjoys learning the culture and languages of different countries. Although she often finds it difficult, Grace tries to practice her Spanish with her Spanish-speaking friends at least twice a week and is open to learning more languages. During her free time, Grace loves going to intense cycling classes or stay in her bed and rewatch all the episodes of How I Met Your Mother.
Kevin Moya is currently a sophomore in the College of Arts and Science pursuing a double major in Economics and Politics. He is the Treasurer of the IR Society and a recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship, a full tuition merit-based scholarship given to incoming NYU students for four years of study. He was born in London and has lived in the United Kingdom, the Philippines, and the United States. In high school Kevin took an active role in a variety of clubs, ranging from Board Member of the Wilton High School Wind Ensemble to Vice President of the French Honor Society. Outside of school he ran the nonprofit Wilton Roots of Music, an organization which introduces children ages 5-12 to music over the summer. He has also volunteered at the Philippine Red Cross to distribute goods to those affected by Typhoon Yolanda. Kevin was an intern at Morgan Stanley during the summer of 2017 and an intern at CBRE and Creative Artists Agency during the summer of 2018. He has returned to Morgan Stanley as an intern working under the Gerson, Guarino, and Meisel Wealth Management Group. In his free time Kevin enjoys reading, biking, watching Netflix, and, most importantly, finding places to eat great food.
Minjin is the Human Resources Chair of IR Insider. She is in her third year at IR Society and is currently a senior studying International Relations with a minor in Italian. She was raised in New York City and Washington DC in an Mongolian household. She can speak six languages: English, Mongolian, Italian, Korean, Japanese and Chinese. She hopes to pursue public interest law in the future and is currently applying for law schools.
Mallika is an Executive Editor of IR INSIDER. She is a junior at NYU majoring in Politics with a double minor in Philosophy and Peace & Conflict Studies. Originally from California, Mallika moved to New York to not only attend NYU, but also to pursue her career. Today, she works for Interfor International, a global intelligence firm and will spend her spring semester interning at the Department of State, Office of Foreign Missions. She hopes to attend law school following graduation, working to solve international and humanitarian issues.
Lila is a publisher for IR Insider and is a Junior majoring in International Relations at NYU. She is currently studying abroad at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea for the semester. While there, she plans to improve her Korean language skills and study the international politics of the Korean peninsula more in depth. She also hopes to travel all around Korea and other nearby countries during her semester abroad to explore new locations and try local cuisines.
Anna is the Event Development Chair of IR Society. She is a junior in CAS, majoring in International Relations and minoring in French as well as Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology. Anna’s interest in world politics only grew after interning for Governor Cuomo this past summer. She hopes to gain other similarly fulfilling experiences in her last 2 years at NYU on the pre-law track. You can find Anna trying out new restaurants or geeking out at anything reminiscent of her Canadian upbringing in NYC.
