Trump and May at the World Economic Forum
The World Economic Forum, taken place in Davos-Klosters from January 23-26 2018, brought together the world’s leading personalities in a greater endeavor to acknowledge the work that has already been done and to address the issues which still linger.
An important alliance which has been positively reaffirmed was the one between the United States and the United Kingdom. President Trump was no less than effusive in his dialogue regarding Prime Minister Theresa May. President Trump displayed no signs of hesitance to denounce false claims of strained relationships between the two countries. “ We love your country” said the President and further added that both the leaders “ like each other a lot.”
Two aspects will invariably benefit from this friendly gesture between the world leaders. One is undoubtedly trade. "One thing that will be taking place over a number of years will be trade. Trade is going to increase many times.” the President remarked.
Another area that will be positively affected is the military. President Trump confirmed that the US will always support the UK in military related affairs. He stated that the US is “ there to fight for you-you know that” and further marked that both democracies were “ joined at the hip when it comes to the military.”
Although President Trump’s earlier plan to visit the UK has been rescinded, his trip to the UK later on this year is still being planned.
